Barcelona manager, Xavi Hernández will no longer be able to call upon Frenkie de Jong again this season.
The Dutch midfielder has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after picking up an injury against Real Madrid in the La Liga El Clasico tie on Sunday.
De Jong started the El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu, which Barca lost by a score of 2-3.
He, however, had a coming together with Real Madrid’s Fede Valverde right before halftime.
De Jong suffered a nasty-looking injury and was replaced by Pedri.
While there’s no official statement regarding De Jong’s injury yet, the player is expected to be out at least for a month, according to l Football Espana.
As a result, De Jong is set to miss the remainder of the season and could potentially see his Euro 2024 campaign get affected.
