Super Eagles forward, Ahmed Musa has expressed disappointment over the unjust treatment of the team in Libya.
Musa said this while calling on the Confederation of African Football, CAF, to intervene and investigate the incident.
In a tweet on X, the Kano Pillars star wrote, “I’m extremely disappointed by the unjust treatment of the Super Eagles, the NFF officials, as well as dignitaries in Libya.
“This is not sportsmanship, and I want the football governing body,
@CAF_Online
to intervene and investigate this incident.
“I stand with the players in this difficult time.”
Recall that the Super Eagles are scheduled to play Libya in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifier on Tuesday night.
This comes after their 1-0 victory in the first leg on Friday in Uyo.
However, Libyan authorities had diverted the chartered ValueJet aircraft carrying the Super Eagles players to a small airport away from Benghazi just as the pilot was completing his approach to the Benghazi Airport on Sunday night.
The three-African champions were held hostage for over 13 hours as the
the Libyan Football Federation failed to send any reception team or even vehicles to take the delegation members from the airport to their hotel in Benghazi.
