Former Chelsea standout Mason Mount is reportedly reconsidering his move to Manchester United, according to former Chelsea player Craig Burley.
Mount, who played a crucial role at Stamford Bridge, made the switch to Old Trafford last summer in a £60 million deal following a successful tenure with Chelsea, which included a pivotal role in their 2021 Champions League triumph.
However, the 25-year-old has faced challenges during his debut season at Manchester United, including injury setbacks and a decline in form that have limited his Premier League starts to just five.
Despite getting a rare start against Crystal Palace on Monday, Mount’s efforts couldn’t prevent a humiliating 4-0 loss for the Red Devils, leading to increased scrutiny on his move.
Burley speculated that Mount may be questioning his decision to leave Chelsea, suggesting that the transition to Manchester United hasn’t gone as smoothly as expected.
“Mason Mount, obviously he’s had an injury-ravaged season, but even when he’s been fit he looks like a guy who’s thinking, ‘oh my god, I’ve just made a big mistake’,” Burley commented to ESPN.
“Whilst he’s been poor himself and he’s been out for a while, he’s got to be thinking to himself, ‘I’ve made a terrible move here.’”
