MLS: Messi makes history as Inter Miami win 4-1

Inter Miami captain, Lionel Messi, on Saturday became the first player in Major League Soccer, MLS, history to record multiple goal contributions in five straight games.

The Argentina forward achieved this feat after scoring a brace in Inter Miami’s 4-1 win against New England Revolution.

Inter Miami extended their lead to three points at the top of the Eastern Conference table.

Tomas Chancalay scored the opener for the hosts in the first minute before Messi netted two goals for his side.

After Messi’s second goal in the 67th minute of the match, Inter Miami controlled the proceedings at Gillette Stadium.

Benjamin Cremaschi and Luis Suarez then scored a goal each to extend the Herons’ lead.

Meanwhile, Messi now has 22 goals in 24 matches across all competitions for Inter Miami.
