Former Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has disclosed that some players he tried to sell five or six years ago are still playing in the club’s first team.
Mourinho, who won the Europa League and League Cup in his first season, had a controversial second season that ended without a trophy and an impasse with some players in the team.
The Portuguese was eventually sacked before the Christmas period and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was brought in to replace him.
In a recent interview with Daily Telegraph, Mourinho stated that he did his best for the club, but there were still a few players who do not have the necessary professional profile to play for a club of that stature.
“There are still a couple of players still there I didn’t want five or six years ago. I think they represent a little bit what I consider not the best professional profile to a club of a certain dimension,” Mourinho said.
“But I did my job there. Time always tells the truth. I would love Manchester United to succeed.”
