The chances of Nigeria’s Super Eagles playing at the 2026 World Cup is in jeopardy.
This follows their 2-1 defeat to Benin Republic on Monday in Ivory Coast.
The Super Eagles were looking to bounce back from their 1-1 draw against South Africa last Friday.
Finidi George’s side started on a good note, thanks to Raphael Onyedika’s excellent finish in the first half.
However, Nigeria went into the break behind, as the Beninoise scored twice before half time thanks to goals from Jodel Dossou and Steve Mounie.
The result leaves Benin Republic top of Group C with seven points, while Nigeria remain fifth with three points.
