France football legend Marcel Desailly has voiced support for Kylian Mbappe’s potential surprising shift to the Saudi Pro League instead of the widely speculated transfer to Real Madrid.
Mbappe, who recently experienced disappointment following Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League exit, is poised to depart the club during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Despite Real Madrid emerging as a frontrunner for his signature, Desailly holds a contrary opinion.
Expressing his perspective on Mbappe’s prospective move, Desailly emphasized the competitive environment at Real Madrid, suggesting it might not align well with Mbappe’s aspirations.
With rising talents like Vinicius and Jude Bellingham in contention, Desailly contends that Mbappe may not find the spotlight he desires.
“I have said it all ready, I would move to a different continent. For him, I am not sure Madrid is the best place for him to be. We have Vinicius on the left side, a player showing the quality like Bellingham so he’s not going to be the full number one that he wants,” Desailly told beIN Sports (via talkSPORT).
“If you think about the business of football, for £350 m.illion I would go to Saudi for a year, then come back next season- the year of the World Cup- aged 26 and a half, cash out and play football, because what does Mbappe want? He wants to play football.”
