France U-23 coach, Thierry Henry, was not happy despite their 1-0 victory over Argentina in their Olympics football match on Friday night.
There was high tension after the game as both sets of players clashed.
Jean-Philippe Mateta’s header in the sixth minute proved to be the winning goal of the encounter.
Henry’s men have now qualified for the semi-finals where they will face African side Egypt.
There was tensions ahead of the game, after members of Argentina’s triumphant Copa America squad were filmed singing a racist and transphobic chant aimed toward the French.
Chelsea midfielder, Enzo Fernandez, livestreamed the video on Instagram, with his club team-mate and France defender Wesley Fofana describing it as “uninhibited racism”.
French supporters booed and jeered Argentina’s squad at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux before and during the match.
And it all culminated in the ugly clash at full time, resulting in Enzo Millot being shown a red card.
Speaking after the game, Henry told reporters: “I don’t agree with what happened at the end of the match. My player [Millot] got a red card and I don’t accept it, it shouldn’t happen.
“I couldn’t control what happened. I went to greet the coach and when I turned around, what happened happened.
“We won, but I didn’t like what happened at the end with my player.”
