Sports Newspapers: 5 things you need to know Sunday morning

Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Sports Newspapers:

  1. Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Finidi George, who has resigned as the head coach of Nigeria. It is claimed that Finidi accused Osimhen of pulling out of games for the national team with minor injuries.
  2. Former Arsenal player Kevin Campbell, on Saturday died at the age of aged 54, his former club Arsenal have confirmed. Campbell played up front for clubs including Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and Everton, scoring 148 goals in 542 club games across an almost 20-year career at the top.
  3. Chris Billam-Smith denied Richard Riakporhe a dream homecoming as he beat his British rival by unanimous decision to enact revenge and successfully defend his WBO cruiserweight world title at Selhurst Park. The reigning champion delivered a calculated, controlled performance to nullify the power of his opponent and spoil the Riakporhe party at the home of Crystal Palace.
  4. Brighton have appointed Fabian Hurzeler as their new head coach. Hurzeler, 31, has agreed a three-year-contract with the south coast club and becomes the youngest permanent manager in Premier League history after succeeding Roberto De Zerbi.
  5. England beat the rain and Namibia to keep their T20 World Cup defence alive – but are still reliant on Australia beating Scotland to go through to the Super 8s. The weather threatened to wash the match out entirely – a scenario that would have eliminated England – but eventually the clouds cleared to allow a frantic, shortened contest.
