  1. The Nigeria Table Tennis Federation on Sunday named Quadri Aruna, Offiong Edem, Olajide Omotayo and Fatimo Bello as the country’s flag bearers at the 2024 ITTF African Cup and Olympics Qualification Tournament taking place in Kigali, Rwanda, from May 12 to 18. In the list of participants released by the continental table tennis ruling body, African Table Tennis Federation, Omar Assar of Egypt as the men’s singles defending champion will be joined by her compatriot – Hana Goda who will also be defending her title in the women’s singles.
  2. Joao Pedro netted a late winner to halt Aston Villa’s charge to qualify for the Champions League as Brighton deservedly claimed a 1-0 victory at the Amex Stadium. Villa, though, need just three points at most from their final two matches against Liverpool and Crystal Palace to secure fourth after Spurs were beaten 4-2 at Liverpool on Sunday.
  3. McLaren’s Lando Norris beat Red Bull’s Max Verstappen with help from the safety car to take his maiden Formula 1 victory at the Miami Grand Prix. Norris jumped to the front because he was able to make his pit stop when a safety car was deployed at about half distance while others had already stopped.
  4. Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen thrashed Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1 on Sunday as they made it 48 matches unbeaten in all competitions. Granit Xhaka, Patrick Schick, Exequiel Palacios, Jeremie Frimpong and Victor Boniface all scored for Xabi Alonso’s side.
  5. Argentina’s World Cup-winning coach Cesar Luis Menotti has died at the age of 85. Menotti died on Sunday after battling a long illness that had kept him out of public life in recent months.
