Sports Newspapers: 5 things you need to know this Saturday morning

Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Sports Newspapers:

  1. Real Madrid will clash with Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday night. The match will take place at the Wembley Stadium in London.
  2. England’s 2-1 defeat by France in Newcastle has left them with some catching up to do if they want to secure qualification for next summer’s Euros. They trail leaders France by five points in Group A3 having lost one and drawn one in their two home games so far.
  3. Spanish third seed Carlos Alcaraz shrugged off his injury concerns to reach the French Open last 16 with a solid straight-set victory against American 27th seed Sebastian Korda. Alcaraz, who has been nursing an arm injury, fought hard to win 6-4 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 at Roland Garros.
  4. Scotland moved top of their group after overcoming Israel in a Women’s Euro 2025 qualifier that was played behind closed doors and delayed by a protester at Hampden Park. The Scottish FA decided not to allow spectators in to the national stadium because of security concerns.
  5. Northern Ireland fell to their first defeat in Euro 2025 qualifying as they were beaten 4-0 by group leaders Portugal in Leiria. Carole Costa opened the scoring for the hosts with a penalty on 25 minutes, with substitute Catarina Armado finding the net either side of a Lucia Alves double.
