  2. The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has denied reports the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, has been moved to early 2026. CAF however said it is yet to decide on AFCON 2025 dates that will take place in Morocco.
  3. Australia overcame an early wobble to beat Oman comfortably by 39 runs in their opening match at the T20 World Cup in Barbados. Australia were 50-3 in the ninth over when captain Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell fell in consecutive balls.
  4. Germany’s Alexander Zverev reached the French Open semi-finals for the fourth consecutive year by seeing off the spirited challenge of Australia’s Alex de Minaur. Fourth seed Zverev came through to win 6-4 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 against 11th seed De Minaur.
  5. India began their T20 World Cup campaign with a comprehensive eight-wicket win over Ireland in New York ahead of their blockbuster showdown against Pakistan this weekend. India – looking for a second T20 World Cup title and first since the inaugural edition in 2007 – rolled Ireland for 96 in 16 overs on a bowler-friendly pitch, with Hardik Pandya claiming three wickets and Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh two each in a clinical display.
