Sports Newspapers: 5 things you need to know this Tuesday morning

Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Sports Newspapers:

  1. Inter Milan were crowned Serie A champions for a 20th time after a 2-1 win against rivals AC Milan on Monday. Francesco Acerbi’s header and Marcus Thuram’s finish saw Inter claim the Scudetto with five games to spare as Simone Inzaghi’s side took an unassailable 17-point lead over their second-placed city rivals, who scored a late goal through Former Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori.
  2. Four-time world snooker champion Mark Selby has vowed to consider retirement after crashing out in a “pathetic” 10-6 defeat to qualifier Joe O’Connor on Monday. Selby, who questioned his future in the sport after losing to Gary Wilson in the Tour Championship earlier this month, went down to a 10-6 defeat to fellow Leicestershire star O’Connor having trailed 7-2 after the Sunday morning session.

3.England and other teams are set to be given chance to select 26 players for Euro 2024. UEFA vote on Monday gave the green light for expanded squads from a 23-player limit to 26 as enlarged squads were used at the last Euros in 2021 to help nations cope with the aftermath of the COVID pandemic.

  1. The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has announced it will start organising monthly football awards. The award, according to a release by the NFF on Monday will recognise, celebrate and reward the best players and coaches in the Nigeria game on a monthly basis.
  2. Nelly Korda has withdrawn from this week’s JM Eagle LA Championship after claiming her second major title and fifth straight victory in The Chevron Championship. Korda’s two-shot victory on Sunday saw her tie the record for most consecutive LPGA wins, with Nancy Lopez in 1978 and Annika Sorenstam (2004-05) the only other women to achieve the feat.
