  1. Liverpool have confirmed the appointment of Arne Slot as their new head coach, with the Dutchman signing a three-year contract at Anfield. Slot, who had said on Friday that he would replace Jurgen Klopp, was identified as Liverpool’s preferred candidate following the German’s announcement in January that he would stand down at the end of the season.
  2. The Minnesota Timberwolves knocked defending NBA champions the Denver Nuggets out of the play-offs by beating them 98-90 in the deciding game of their Western Conference semi-final series. The Timberwolves were trailing by 20 points at one stage in the third quarter but staged a comeback to win game seven and take the series 4-3.
  3. Former UFC flyweight Geane Herrera is dead at the age of 33. Herrera, who made his mixed martial arts (MMA) debut in 2011 and had 13 fights across a seven-year career, reportedly died following a motorcycle accident, external in Tampa, Florida.
  4. Nigeria’s under-17 female team- the Flamingos will face Liberia in the final game of qualifiers for the 2024 under-17 World Cup. The Flamingos will be looking to clinch one of the three available tickets to the upcoming under-17 World Cup in the Dominican Republic later this year.
  5. Rafael Devers set a Red Sox franchise record for consecutive games with a home run in Boston’s series-opening 5-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night in St. Petersburg, Fla. In the fourth inning, the third baseman wrote himself into the Red Sox record book with an opposite-field, two-run shot to left on a 97-mph four-seam fastball from Taj Bradley (1-2) for a 3-0 lead.
