Sports Newspapers: 5 things you need to know this Wednesday morning

Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Sports Newspapers:

1. Borussia Dortmund have qualified for this year’s UEFA Champions League final. The Bundesliga side defeated Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night to book their place, thanks to Matt Hummels’ only goal of the encounter.

2. Scotland will face England in this autumn’s Women’s T20 World Cup after losing against Sri Lanka in the final of the ICC qualifier in Abu Dhabi.
The Scots had already secured their first appearance in the tournament by reaching the last two but could not land the silverware as they were defeated by 68 runs.

3. Nottingham Forest have failed in their appeal to have their four-point deduction for breaking financial rules in the 2022/23 season overturned. The club were charged in January after breaching Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) by £34.5m above their permitted threshold of £61m for the assessment period ending 2022/23.

4. Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert was named the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year for the fourth time on Tuesday. Gobert tied Hall of Fame big men Dikembe Mutombo and Ben Wallace for the most times winning the award in the league history.

5. Real Madrid will on Wednesday night host Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg tie at Santiago Bernabeu. Both teams had played a 2-2 draw in the first leg last week at Allianz Arena and the winner of tonight’s clash will face Borussia Dortmund in the final at Wembley next month.
