Aston Villa are reportedly leading the race to sign Canadian forward Jonathan David, according to a report from Tuttomercatoweb.
The Premier League club is competing with Manchester United, among other clubs, to acquire the Lille striker’s signature.
It is believed that Villa are currently the frontrunners and may only have to pay around £30m to sign the Canadian, who has impressed with 24 goals this season.
David’s current contract is set to expire in a year, and with no new extension in sight, Lille could be willing to sell him.
If Villa secure the signing, it would be a significant boost to their attacking options for next season.
