Chelsea have finalized a £42 million agreement to sign Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran.
The Blues have been on the lookout for an additional striker to challenge Nicolas Jackson, who, despite scoring 17 goals last season, drew criticism for his inconsistency.
Duran, who moved to Villa in an £18 million transfer from MLS side Chicago Fire 17 months ago, has found it difficult to secure a consistent starting position.
Last season, Duran started only three Premier League games, with manager Unai Emery favoring Ollie Watkins as the primary striker, supported by Leon Bailey and Moussa Diaby.
Chelsea had shown interest in Duran during the January transfer window, and according to respected Colombian journalist Guillermo Arango, the Premier League west London club has now agreed on a £42 million transfer fee with Villa.
Negotiations between Chelsea and Duran regarding his contract are currently underway.
