Transfer: I’m happy for him – Ten Hag on departing Man Utd star

Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag, has said he is happy for Scott McTominay, who is all set to join Napoli this summer transfer deadline day.

Ten Hag spoke at his pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of Man United’s Premier League tie with Liverpool on Sunday.

Man United are expected to announced McTominay’s move to Napoli today.

Speaking about the Scotland international, Ten Hag said:

“I’m very happy for him and for us, but it’s mixed [feelings] because I would have preferred not to lose him. He has Manchester United in his veins.

“He was so important for our team, he was at Manchester United for over 22 years. But unfortunately, it’s the rules. You have to discuss the rules to do sells and obviously homegrown players, academy players, bring more value.”
