Chippa United Chief Executive Officer, Siviwe Mpengesi has disclosed that the club’s goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, could leave the South African side for another club this summer.
Nwabali has been heavily linked with a move away from the South African club after his impressive performance for Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Saudi club, El-Ettifaq and English side Queens Park Rangers, were linked with Nwabali during the competition.
Union St Gilloise of Belgium and Kaizer Chiefs are also reportedly interested in the former Enyimba keeper.
However, Mpengesi confirmed talks with foreign clubs and claimed they won’t stop Nwabali from leaving the club if they receive a suitable offer.
“We are talking to a few clubs abroad. We also believe that he needs something better, especially after the performance that he showed at the AFCON,” Mpengesi told iDiski Times.
“You know, being number two, they were runner-ups, he was number two, second best goalkeeper of AFCON, so if the opportunity comes especially abroad, of course even if it comes locally and the offer is for him, it’s not even for us. If the offer for him is better then we will not hold on to him.”
