Transfer: Trouble for Guardiola as Haaland’s £175m release clause becomes active

Manchester City are eager to secure a new contract with Erling Haaland after his impressive performance over two Premier League seasons, during which he helped the team clinch consecutive titles.

Haaland, who joined from Borussia Dortmund for £51 million in the summer of 2022, still has three years remaining on his current contract.

However, a clause in his contract allows him to leave for any club outside England for £175 million, effective this summer.

According to the UK Mirror, this buy-out fee will decrease with each passing year.

With Pep Guardiola potentially leaving next summer, City is planning for the future and wants to ensure Haaland’s continued presence at the club.
