Bayern Munich’s custodian, Manuel Neuer, has expressed remorse following his pivotal blunder that led to Real Madrid’s equalizer in their tense 2-1 defeat during the Champions League semi-final second leg clash on Wednesday.
The Bundesliga powerhouse gained momentum in the second half courtesy of Alphonso Davies’ strike.
However, Neuer’s mishap, fumbling Vinicius Jr.’s seemingly harmless attempt, paved the way for Joselu to level the scoreline at 1-1.
Subsequently, Joselu capitalized on Antonio Rudiger’s precise delivery, securing Real Madrid’s passage to the final, where they are poised to square off against Borussia Dortmund.
Reflecting on the setback in an interview with DAZN, Neuer candidly admitted, “Anyone who’s ever played football knows how I’m feeling right now.
“That we’ve been knocked out in the closing stages, having led 1-0 until the 88th minute, it’s extremely bitter. We’d taken one step to London, we saw ourselves in the final and now I’m lost for words.”
