Real Madrid head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has revealed that his Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola came into the dressing room to congratulate him and his players following their Champions League quarter-final defeat on Wednesday night.
Real Madrid needed a penalty shoot-out to eliminate the Premier League champions, after the Champions League quarter-final second leg match ended 1-1 (4-4 on aggregate) at the Etihad.
The likes of Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic missed their spot-kicks for City, while Luka Modric missed for Madrid.
However, it is Ancelotti’s men who progressed to the semi-final where they will play Bayern Munich in the semi-final later this month.
“This is about the only way you can come to City and win,” Ancelotti told Movistar after the game.
“You work, sacrifice and win however you can. Pep Guardiola is a gentleman, always has been. He congratulated us, wished us good luck and that is what a real gent does.”
